Getting started with Folio Office
Use four browser tools to work with documents, spreadsheets, presentations and PDFs. Files remain on your device during the app's file-processing operations.
1. Choose a workspace
The four icons beneath the studio label select Document, Excel, PowerPoint or PDF. Hover over an icon for its name. The globe control switches between English and Simplified Chinese.
2. Open or create a file
Use the folder icon to select a file, or start with a blank document. Supported import types include DOCX, TXT, Markdown, HTML, XLSX, PPTX and PDF; the app routes the file to the corresponding workspace. The file-size limit is 25 MB. Cancelling file selection keeps your current work.
Documents
Write and format text, then export a copy. Drafts are saved in this browser. Use the export control or Ctrl/Cmd + S to download your work. Keep the original file: complex layouts and formatting may change during import and export.
Spreadsheets
Open an XLSX workbook or create a basic sheet. Edit supported cells and export XLSX. Formula cells are treated as read-only in this version; this is not a full Excel calculation engine.
Presentations
Open PPTX files or create basic slides, edit supported text and images, then export PPTX. Complex themes, animations and layouts may not be preserved.
PDFs
Open a PDF, navigate pages, adjust zoom and search selectable text. Image-only scans do not contain searchable text; this app does not perform OCR. Text editing is limited to supported text selections. Download a separate PDF after editing and inspect the result before using it.
3. Save a copy
Opening a file does not overwrite the original. Export and download your edited copy. Do not rely solely on browser drafts: clearing site data, private browsing or storage limits can remove them.
If something does not work
- If a file will not open, check its format and size; try a smaller, simpler copy.
- If PDF search finds nothing, the page may be a scan without a text layer.
- If an imported layout changes, keep the original and use a desktop editor for complex formatting.
- If file selection does not appear in an embedded browser, try opening the app directly in your normal browser.
